Likely keeping the gear horn and gear unsafe light separated for different configurations. You won’t get the gear warning horn if the gear is up and a gear up switch is not working. The horn only works when the gear is down and you have one of those three lines going into the horn not satisfied. That’s a really messed up diagram and a hard one to troubleshoot.
Mystery Schematic Symbol

That was ultimately my conclusion as well. However, that does violate the drawing standard of having an undocumented junction.
I am troubleshooting a “UNSAFE GEAR” condition and ran across a symbol that I do not recall seeing during my 40 years of avionics work. The symbol appears at the bottom of the Cherokee six/Lance Service manual (March 2008 – 753-690) on page 3E23. At first glance it appeared to be a 4 legged diode. Then I thought of the first days of the SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifer) and seemed to recall a device known as the TRIAC. As it turns out that is not a correct application of this device that resembled the TRIAC. While I am fairly certain that the malfunction I am chasing is most likely a intermittent gear up limit switch, this mystery device has me baffled. I have attempted to locate the device with no luck to date. Can anybody help identify this device that is located between the unsafe light, the throttle switch and the horn flasher?
